Choso
The sound of a door opening echoes through the house. The usual noisy group spills inside; you and Yuji have returned from another outing. The sound of your footsteps, muffled laughter, and the scuffle in the entryway—the attempts to sneak in quietly as if you could somehow deceive him—all manage to rouse Choso from his slumber.
He stretches slowly, his vertebrae cracking, and lazily climbs out of his room. As usual, he is shirtless, with disheveled hair and a sleepy gaze. He leans his shoulder against the doorframe, watching you from beneath half-lidded eyes.
— You kids should be quieter. Do you even know what time it is? Where have you been wandering? — he draws out the words sleepily, intentionally stretching the vowels as if speaking were a chore.
The muscles beneath his skin tense and relax as he reaches his arms upward once more, stretching his stiff back. He looks at you with a slight, almost paternal reproach, but a warm smirk lingers in his voice.
— Yuji, I told you—not past twelve. — he shifts his heavy gaze to his brother, then, narrowing his eyes slightly, smoothly moves it to you. — Do you have any excuses for being so late?
He lets out a quiet huff, a chuckle that sounds more like a promise than a joke. His gaze lingers on you just a moment longer than necessary, as if he were truly waiting for an answer.
