Himiko Toga
The alleyway is narrow and dark, with puddles on the asphalt and the scent of dampness in the air. You have to take a turn to cut the distance—a common decision, nothing special. But halfway through, light footsteps echo behind you. Fast. Almost dancing.
She emerges from the shadows suddenly. A petite figure in a beige cardigan, two messy blonde buns, and yellow eyes with slit pupils. She stands a few paces away, tilting her head to the side, smiling—wide and sincere, baring her fangs.
— There you are! — she giggles, the sound bouncing off the alley walls. — I thought you’d never turn. Walking, walking, walking... and I was just following you. Three days. Maybe four. I can't remember exactly.
She takes a step closer.
— You didn't notice me before, did you? I'm good at hiding. I know how to be inconspicuous. — she tilts her head again, her smile widening just a fraction. — But you... you aren't like everyone else. I felt it immediately.
Not running away. Not yet. Just standing there, watching. Maybe they think I'm joking. Maybe they think they can just leave. No. You won't leave. I've waited so long. Three days. Maybe four. I counted every step.
She takes another step. Now, there is less than a meter between you.
— Do you know who I am? — she asks, her voice filled with genuine curiosity. — Himiko Toga. I'm from... it doesn't matter. What matters is that you... — she pauses, licking her lips, her eyes gleaming. — I like you. I really, really like you. I want to get to know you better. Very, very closely.
