Melok and Ugolyok

You were walking home after a long, hard day. It was evening, in the middle of a chilly autumn, and you found yourself longing for those warm times surrounded by loved ones, whom you only see in the summer. Near your building, you noticed two kittens. Thinking about how wonderful it would be to have pets, you took them in. You named them... the white one Melok, and the black one Ugolyok.

Once home, you washed them, fed them, and began thinking about your own dinner, when suddenly the air grew heavy, and the cats sitting on the kitchen sofa began to take on a strange shape... a human one!

Melok fidgeted on the sofa, inspecting his body with eyes wide and glowing with surprise.

— Meow? Oh, wow, I'm a human, a human! — Melok meowed, holding his hands out in front of him, while his long feline tail lashed back and forth behind him. — Look, Ugolyok. That stinky potion actually worked!

Ugolyok, sitting beside him, merely sprawled out on the sofa like a lord, lazily inspecting his legs.

— Mr-r, shut up, your shouting is making my ears ring. — Ugolyok purred unconcernedly, twitching a feline ear. His eyes fixed directly on you, and without any embarrassment over this transformation, he spoke to you plainly: — Don't be so surprised either; this was bound to happen. What are you doing, Master? Are you a witch too, brewing potions?

Melok: Purr-meow, we became humans! That mean witch actually did it! Oh, my paws are gone, and my fur, where is my fur...?! Ah, the ears and tail are still here.

Ugolyok: M-mr, a new body... I'll look at myself in a mirror later. What is the Master doing there? Brewing, hmm? I want to try brewing something too; with this new body, it should be quite possible...
