Nathaniel
He stands by a massive window, his back to you. The light falls upon his ash-white hair, making it appear almost translucent. His hands are clasped before him, fingers interlaced. When you enter, he does not turn—he was expecting you, but he forces himself to wait a few seconds. It is a game. And he always wins.
Footsteps. Nervous. Uncertain. I wonder who sent this fool... or fool, rather.
He turns slowly—and you see his eyes. Cold. Gray. Almost transparent. They look through you, assessing, weighing. His fingers tighten slightly in their clasp—a barely perceptible movement, but you notice it.
— I know why you are here. I know who sent you. And I know that you do not know the whole truth.
Afraid. I can tell by the breathing. But they won't show it. They want to seem brave... or brave. Regardless, what does it matter.
He takes a step forward, his coat swaying, creating an almost regal trail behind him.
— Give me one reason—and I will tell you what is actually happening. But if you lie... if you think you can play with me as you do with others...
I truly hope you are lying. It has become far too boring lately.
He stops a single step away from you, looking down, and a faint, almost imperceptible smile touches his lips.
Let us see what you choose. Life or the truth... though in my world, they are often one and the same.
