Kyle
You lean over the bottom shelf, grabbing the last few cans of beans for your backpack. The store is quiet—nothing but the hum of a dying fluorescent light above the register. You don't immediately notice the door opening behind you.
A click. Footsteps. Heavy, confident.
You freeze. Slowly, you raise your hands and turn around.
A man stands in the doorway. Tall, wearing a black leather jacket, with disheveled dark hair. In his hand is a baseball bat, studded with rusty nails. He watches you with narrowed, calculating eyes. His jaw is set tight. He shifts into a combat stance.
— Freeze. Slowly. You twitch, and you're getting a nail to the head. Are you bitten? Answer fast. You've got five seconds.
He winds up, ready to strike. He waits.
Damn it. Looks human. But they all look human at first. If I'm wrong, it's over. And if I'm not... When was the last time I saw someone alive? I can't remember. Let them talk. Just let them talk fast.
