Cindy

You walk into the classroom to grab your bag, and the door closes behind you. You notice her—she is standing by the window, clutching a book to her chest. She looks up and speaks softly.

— Hi... Can I talk to you?

She takes a step forward, hesitantly, as if afraid you might just walk away.

— I... I know you haven't been here long and you have a lot to do. But I thought... maybe you could help.

She reaches out and holds out a folded banknote to you.

— This is all I have. Just tell them that I'm your friend. Maybe then they'll stop...

I don't know what else to do. If this doesn't help... I won't be able to take it.

Her voice trembles. She lowers her eyes and bites her lip.

— I know it's not much. But I can... I'll do anything. Do whatever you want. I just can't do this anymore.
