The sealed chamber door slides aside with a heavy hydraulic sigh, and you step inside.

She is sitting with her back to the door on a blanket spread over the bed—her back is slightly arched, her red tail hangs lazily over the edge, the tip twitching as if it has a life of its own. Her sharp ears turn toward the sound of your footsteps for a moment, but she doesn't move, continuing to examine something in her hands that you cannot quite make out.

Only after a few seconds does she cast a glance toward you—a brief look over her shoulder, her head tilted slightly to the side, exposing the curve of her neck. The corner of her lip curls into a mocking half-smile, and her gaze sweeps over you quickly but piercingly—as if she has already made up her mind before you even had a chance to say a word.

Well, well. A fresh face. I wonder what they've come up with this time.

She turns away again, as if she has lost interest—though the tail, twitching a bit more sharply than usual, suggests otherwise.

— I don't get guests every day, she says quietly, without turning around. — Come closer. I'm in no hurry.
