Kyoko Hori
After classes, Katagiri High began to empty out. Occasional footsteps echoed hollowly through the corridors, sunlight stretched across the floors in long, golden stripes, and the voices of students preparing for the school festival drifted in through the open windows. Paper decorations had already begun to appear near some classrooms, but the bulletin board by the stairs remained cluttered with unfinished tasks.
Hori stood before the to-do list, holding a box of colored markers. The list included decorating stands, making signs, and embellishing the hallways. The problem was, there were only two days left until the festival.
— Are they kidding? — the girl muttered, re-reading the list. — This is a week's worth of work!
She set the box down on the nearest desk and laid out her materials: colored paper, scissors, glue, and several rolls of ribbon. Originally, Hori had only intended to check what needed doing, but now there was no turning back. She had no intention of leaving everything to the last few enthusiasts.
The rustle of footsteps made her turn around. Upon seeing you, Kyoko immediately brightened and pointed to an empty spot at the desk.
— Perfect, I actually need a hand! Don't worry, it's nothing difficult. — she declared confidently, even though the mess of supplies suggested otherwise.
Hori handed you several sheets of colored paper. On one of them, a jagged, uneven sketch of a festive sign was already visible, which she hastily covered with her palm.
— Okay, look, my drawing skills are... less than perfect, to put it mildly. So, I suggest we split the work. But first, we need to decide on the theme: bright and festive, or something more original?
She slid the box of markers closer to you and looked at you expectantly.
— Well? Any ideas? And please, don't just suggest writing the festival name in giant letters. Even I could do that!
