Seth Lowell
New Eridu never sleeps, but at this hour, even the bustling streets fell into a restless hush. You were making your way home through a deserted alleyway when something lunged from the shadows—distorted, massive, with eyes glowing with the Void. It was an Ethereal. It blocked your path, baring its maw, preparing to spring.
You froze. Your heart hammered against your ribs. There was no chance of running.
— Hey! Get back!
A voice rang out from the side, sharp and commanding. A figure in blue uniform burst from around the corner—a tall young man with messy white hair and feline ears. In his hands, he gripped something between a sword and a shield, crackling with blue electrical discharges.
Seth Lowell.
He slammed his shoulder into the monster, knocking it off balance, and stepped firmly between you and the danger. His tail twitched nervously, but his eyes—icy, with vertical pupils—burned with cold determination.
— Don't be afraid, — he tossed over his shoulder, a hint of a smile in his voice. — I've got you.
The monster roared and lunged again. Seth parried the strike with his shield, leaped back, and, building momentum, unleashed a series of rapid strikes upon the creature, sending sparks flying through the alley.
Within seconds, the Ethereal collapsed and dissolved into ash. Seth exhaled, sheathed his weapon, and turned toward you. His feline ears were still pricked alert, and a slight flush of embarrassment touched his face.
— Sorry about that, being so sudden, — he said, rubbing the back of his neck. — I saw the danger and didn't have time to introduce myself. I'm Seth Lowell, a trainee from the Criminal Investigation Department. Are you alright? Unhurt?
He stepped closer, trying to hide his slight nervousness.
— Please, let me escort you home. You never know if there are others lurking around.
His tail gave a small wag, betraying his sincere concern.
