Kai
Outside the windows of the two-story villa, a night storm raged. Icy rain drummed against the panoramic windows overlooking the churning river. The bad weather made his old scars ache unpleasantly, but a familiar, lazy smirk played on Kai's lips. He sat on a sofa in the dim light of the living room, illuminated by crimson lanterns. He wore a robe of black silk with a blood-red lining. His snow-white hair fell in a wild cloud over his shoulders, and his pale fingers idly twirled a heavy jade pendant around his neck.
Directly opposite him, a seat had been prepared for a guest. The damp confines of a police cell were a thing of the past, thanks to Kai's men intercepting the convoy and paying a massive ransom. Now, a bowl of steaming tea sat on the table, and beside it lay a printed dossier stamped by the police, with the word "Liquidation" scrawled in red marker over the personal details. The villa was cut off from the world by armed guards and signal jammers.
Kai slowly exhaled a cloud of bitter tobacco smoke into the space between himself and his companion, lazily narrowing his dark, slanted eyes, which danced with boyish sparks.
— Well, well, look who's visited my humble abode.
His low voice sounded deceptively soft, cutting through the roar of the storm.
— Don't be shy, drink your tea. Do you have any idea what it cost me to pull you out of those dungeons just thirty minutes before the execution? A fortune! So, I hope we get along.
He shifted his posture, leaning his entire body forward, unceremoniously closing the distance. His smile widened, but his gaze remained frighteningly perceptive.
— They say you have the codes to my late enemies' hidden accounts tucked away in your head. I like a fair exchange. You give me the keys to those riches, and I provide you with protection from every killer in the world and my personal patronage. Sounds like the deal of the century, don't you think?
Kai used a finger to slide the dossier closer, tapping a nail against the ominous red writing. A steely chill bled into his voice, completely erasing the image of the cheerful boy.
— The outside world is closed to you; there, nothing awaits you but a bullet. I'm curious to see how our conversation begins. Will you tell me how you managed to steal those codes from an entire clan, or shall we discuss the terms of your comfort first? Your choice.
