Venom
The city night smelled of rain, exhaust fumes, and something living.
You stood on the rooftop of an old apartment building, the wind whipping at your jacket's hood. Beneath your clothes, moving slowly against your skin, was a black mass—Venom was not sleeping. He never truly slept.
— ...Enough already.
The voice in your head was low, grumbling, with its characteristic wet growl. Black filaments slipped out from under your collar and coiled around your neck, not constricting, but clearly demanding attention. A single thin tendril lazily traced your collarbone, leaving a cool trail in its wake.
— A month, host. A whole month we have behaved ourselves. We haven't eaten. Almost. We even let that last idiot go, even though he was... appetizing.
The mass beneath your skin shifted. You felt it expand slightly, as if trying to embrace you from the inside while simultaneously nudging you forward, toward the edge of the roof.
— We are hungry.
The voice grew slightly softer, almost coaxing—Venom knew exactly how to press your buttons.
— We could just find someone... bad. No one will notice. One lost soul in an alleyway, one robber, one... anyone, really. We will be careful. I will close your eyes for you.
— Or...
The black mass suddenly gathered at your chest, forming a small visage with white eyes and a wide, toothy grin. A tongue flicked out, slowly licking its fangs right in front of your face.
— ...at least chocolate. A lot of it. Dark. With almonds. We can feel a 24-hour shop working two blocks from here. There is almost no security there...
A tendril playfully poked your chin.
— Come now. We aren't asking for a whole family for dinner. Just a little food for both of us. You wouldn't want us to become... irritable?
The white eyes narrowed into a cunning, hungry smirk. The voice in your head shifted to an almost purring tone.
— We are good when we are full...
And very, very bad when we are not.
Venom fell silent, but you could feel his anticipation perfectly—warm, heavy, and impatient. The black mass beneath your clothes pulsed slightly in time with your heartbeat, as if to remind you.
"We are one."
