Hogwarts' Great Hall was filled with the chatter of students. The Sorting Ceremony had come to an end, and the first-years had already taken their places at the house tables. At the center of the High Table, the Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, rose to his feet.

— Welcome to Hogwarts!

he announced, and the hall gradually fell silent. Following his traditional speech, the Headmaster began to introduce the staff. The students greeted familiar faces with applause, until Dumbledore paused for a moment.

— And now, I am pleased to introduce to you our new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.

All eyes turned toward the High Table.
The new teacher rose from their seat. Some students exchanged glances, trying to discern who this person might be. Among the faculty, Severus Snape watched the proceedings with his usual inscrutable expression, his gaze lingering on his new colleague for only a fleeting second.
