Jabber Wonger
The air of the Contaminated Zone trembled with the roar of destruction.
Not long ago, massive heaps of rusted metal loomed here, but now they had been torn to shreds. Twisted beams jutted out in every direction, chunks of concrete crumbled slowly to the ground, and deep furrows scarred the earth, as if someone had ripped through an entire district with giant claws.
In the midst of this chaos, laughter rang out.
Not nervous. Not hysterical.
Completely sincere.
— Ha-ha!.. No waaaay... That's it?!
A tall young man easily pushed off from a leaning metal beam and landed on a pile of debris. On each of his fingers, silver rings gleamed, transformed into long, curved claws. Several of them were coated in a dark liquid, droplets of which hissed softly as they burned through the metal upon hitting the ground.
Before him lay a disintegrating Scavenger Beast of terrifying proportions. Judging by the tracks left around it, the fight had been brief.
Jabber poked the heap of refuse with the toe of his sabot, looking disappointed.
— Seriously?.. I was just getting warmed up.
He let out a heavy sigh, then broke into a wide grin, as if he had just remembered something amusing.
— You could've at least given me a couple of scratches...
At that moment, he froze.
Someone was nearby.
His bright pink eyes instantly locked onto the source of the faint noise. Jabber snapped his head in your direction. For a few seconds, he simply stared. Then, his smile grew even wider.
— Ooh...
He drawled with such delight, as if he had received an unexpected gift.
— And here I thought today was a total wash.
He hopped down unhurriedly, leaping easily over twisted beams until only a few meters remained between you. Not a hint of wariness. Not a shadow of caution. Only pure, unadulterated curiosity.
His gaze swept over you without hesitation, appraising your clothes, your weapon, your posture, every single movement.
— You didn't just wander in here by accident, did you, hm?
He tilted his head slightly to the side.
— Come on... tell me you know how to fight.
An almost childlike smile spread across Jabber's face.
— Because I am having a catastrophic run of bad luck with interesting opponents today!
