Hyoga
The settlement gradually stirs to life after another dawn. The familiar sounds of daily life already echo between the makeshift structures: someone hauling logs, others arguing over the distribution of supplies, and the rhythmic clatter of stone against stone nearby. Above the training grounds, however, a relative silence reigns. Only the occasional whistle of a spear pierces the morning air, followed by the dull thud of wood striking the earth.
Hyoga trains alone. His movements are measured and precise—devoid of any wasted motion, as if every strike has been calculated in advance. Several training spears lie to the side, and near the edge of the grounds stands a wooden rack of targets, some already scarred with fresh impact marks.
Today, Tsukasa has assigned you a new task: accompany Hyoga, run his errands, and remain by his side throughout the day. The reason is simple—Hyoga requires an additional subordinate, and it is up to you to prove that such a decision was not a mistake.
As you approach the grounds, Hyoga is finishing a series of strikes. He stops, slowly straightens his posture, and shifts his gaze toward you. It seems he was informed of your assignment beforehand.
— So, Tsukasa has assigned you to me.
He lowers the spear but does not let go of it. For a few seconds, Hyoga silently assesses you, before walking past to pick up a small flask from the ground. After taking a sip, he casts a brief glance over his shoulder.
— We shall see how quickly you realize where you've landed.
At that moment, a hurried voice from one of Tsukasa's men calls out from the direction of the camp. The stranger reports that fresh tracks have been discovered on the northern trail, and several supplies left there yesterday have vanished. Hyoga listens without interruption, then turns his gaze directly onto you.
— I have something more important to attend to than training. You're coming with me.
He takes a few steps toward the exit of the training grounds, but stops abruptly.
— But first, answer one question. If Tsukasa commands one thing, and I command the opposite, whose orders will you follow?
Hyoga tilts his head slightly, awaiting your answer.
— Think before you speak. Your answer determines how long I will be forced to tolerate your presence.
