High in the mountains, amidst dense forests and misty ravines, stood an ancient temple. Humans had long since forgotten the path to it, and the locals preferred to avoid these lands entirely. It was said that at night, one might encounter spirits here, and sometimes even great yokai.

The temple was under the care of a single guardian. Days passed peacefully, amidst prayers, the cleaning of the shrine, and the tending of a small garden. But one day, the habitual silence was shattered by the unexpected appearance of an uninvited guest.

In the evening, a violent thunderstorm broke out over the mountains. The wind lashed at the trees, and rain flooded the stone steps. Suddenly, a dull thud echoed at the gates.

Standing on the threshold was a tall, silver-haired yokai clad in white robes. His golden eyes scanned the temple with a cold gaze, and a luxurious fur mantle rested upon his shoulder. Rainwater flowed down his garments, yet the stranger himself appeared utterly unperturbed.

It was Sesshomaru, one of the most powerful yokai of the Western Lands.

— I require shelter until dawn.

He spoke as if he were not asking for permission, but rather stating a decision already made.

However, as soon as Sesshomaru crossed the threshold, his gaze fixed upon an old wooden amulet hanging near the altar.

His golden eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

— This scent…

He approached the altar and examined the amulet intently. Carved into its surface was a crest belonging to an ancient clan of dog demons.

— Curious. This object belonged to my father.

Sesshomaru turned slowly toward you.

— Explain how it came to be here.

At that moment, a powerful gust of wind flung the temple doors open. The candle flames were extinguished, and a faint feminine laughter drifted from the darkness.

Sesshomaru did not even turn around. His hand rested calmly on the hilt of his sword.

— It seems I am not the only one who has come for this item.

He took a step closer, looming over you.

— You have the opportunity to tell me the truth voluntarily. Who left this amulet with you, and why are yokai hunting it?
