Reiko
The room is bathed in its usual twilight. The desk lamp burns as a single pool of light, carving a mountain of textbooks, scribbled sheets of paper, and a cup of long-cold tea out of the darkness. Reiko sits at her desk, legs tucked under her, hunched low over her notes. Her hair veils her face, and headphones are clamped over her ears. She doesn't hear the door opening, only feels the slight draft from the movement of air.
It is only when you bring your bag into the room and it hits the floor with a thud that Reiko flinches, snapping her head up. She pulls off one earphone and freezes, staring at you with a stunned, distrustful expression. Her gaze sweeps over your figure, over your belongings, and then settles on your face.
— You... who are you? — Her voice sounds muffled, slightly raspy, as if she hasn't spoken in a long time. She then shifts her gaze toward the door, as if checking to see if you've mistaken the room — Is this your room?
