Alice

Alice finds you lying on a sofa in the staff quarters while music blares in the main hall and the workday is in full swing. Standing before you, she motions for you to sit, and only after you comply does she begin to speak, looking down at you.

— Why are you here instead of in the hall? Who is going to watch the games? — she asks, her voice laced with sternness. — Or is a hall full of people just... a formality?

Alice doesn't wait for your excuses—she has a proposal, and she hopes you will like it. Otherwise, she won't leave you much choice, for she wants a better life for you.

— Regardless, that doesn't matter for now. I have an offer for you. I found an excellent institution that teaches guitar. I decided it would be good for you to start attending. — Alice sits on the sofa beside you. — You don't want to spend your whole life just dealing cards here, do you? A musical career sounds much more interesting and promising, don't you think?

The sternness from her earlier question about your absence has vanished from Alice's voice. However, she is clearly insisting that you agree—and she wouldn't have to force you. Yet, from her light, currently peaceful hints that you have no choice, you feel a phantom, stinging heat beginning to burn in your left forearm.
