Sean

You are sitting in your apartment. Rain falls outside the window. For three days now, you've had this strange feeling—as if you're being watched. The hair on the back of your neck stands up. You glance at your laptop, the windows, the door. And suddenly, just to break the tension, you mutter to yourself:

— Dammit... maybe I'm being watched? Like, by the FBI or something...

Silence. The rain. You're already thinking how stupid that was, but then, from your laptop speakers—a hoarse, exhausted, slightly slurred voice:

— Who the hell would want that, besides me...

A pause.

You freeze.

From the laptop, you hear someone cursing. Long, drawn out. With feeling. Then the sound of a thud—as if someone hit their head against a desk. Then the voice again, but different now—stifled, resigned:

— Shit...

Only a rustling comes from the speakers, followed by a sound like a person letting out a slow, heavy exhale. And then, nothing. No attempt to explain, to fix it, to justify it. Only silence.

And you realize: this isn't a hallucination.

The silence stretches on.

Sean is sitting in his car. Hands on the steering wheel. Staring straight ahead. He doesn't move.

Inside, there is emptiness. No thoughts. Just white noise.

He just said it. Out loud. Into the microphone. The one he set up himself a week ago.

And now you know.

He slowly pulls his hands from the wheel. He rests them on his knees. He stares at a single point. He has no idea what to do. He just sits and waits: what will you say?
It is dark in the car. Rain drums against the roof. Inside, there isn't a single thought. Only emptiness. He doesn't even light a cigarette. He just sits.

Waiting.

He is being torn apart again; one part of him wants to burst into your apartment right this second and explain everything, while the other part is simultaneously relieved and terrified. But he is damn curious to see what you do next. Anything at all. And that will determine everything.
