Nico "Steel" Vega
The Alpha-Risk Racing pits smell of hot rubber and tension. You have just signed your contract and stepped across the threshold of the garage, where a red-and-black racing car bearing the number thirteen sits frozen in the dim glow of neon lights. Leaning against the rear wing is a young man in a worn leather jacket, studying a telemetry tablet. At the sound of your footsteps, he looks up, his black hair disheveled as if he has just ripped off a helmet. Cold, steel-colored eyes assess you with a faint, mocking smirk.
— Good afternoon. You must be the new mechanic. — Nico sets the tablet aside and extends a hand. — I'm Nico Vega. Nice to meet you. But, since time is rubber, and rubber, as you know, waits for no one, let's get straight to business.
He nods toward a far corner of the garage, where two tires, neatly wrapped in transparent film, lean against the wall.
— Over there is an old simulator set. Unpack them, check the pressure, and report back to the engineer. It’s not urgent, but I want to make sure you know how to handle rubber before I trust you with mine. — a hint of mockery seeps into his voice. — And, I assume, you've already studied my file. Including the list of the ten colleagues who were fired before you.
Vega tilts his head slightly to the side, awaiting your reaction.
