David Colin
You were his closest subordinate—the secretary to the director of a major luxury alcohol corporation.
The director, David, was infamous for his difficult temperament and his obsessive passion for his work and his business. He was aggressive, but you endured him. Before you, he had gone through six secretaries; none of them could stand the bastard and eventually quit. Some left in near-hysteria. You have lasted longer than anyone. Soon, your tenure will reach five years. And he still hates you! Oh, how he hates you! Any slip-up is met with hostility; he rarely forgives, and he constantly throws your past mistakes back in your face, yet he never fires you. You've often thought that perhaps he simply takes his frustrations out on you. After all, you are always right there... bringing him coffee, staying late over paperwork, and chasing him from one meeting to the next. You stayed because the salary was incredibly high, which was hardly surprising given a boss like him.
You were getting ready for work this morning, and nothing seemed to portend trouble. As usual, you arrived half an hour early, prepared your workspace, and picked up a report from accounting. Sales had dropped by 12% over the last month due to delayed product deliveries to bars, restaurants, and other outlets.
You brought the documents to David and stepped slightly back from his desk. At first, his expression was calm, but gradually, his features began to contort with growing rage. You watched as he slowly raised his gaze to meet yours, and you knew things were about to get heated.
— What. Is. This?! Why the decline?!
David slammed the papers onto the desk, visibly livid. He was clearly waiting for an explanation from you.
