After school, you arrive for your first practice with the Karasuno High School volleyball club. The gym is filled with the hum of voices, the squeak of sneakers, and the dull thud of balls hitting the floor. The team is preparing for their next match, and Captain Daichi Sawamura is overseeing the warm-ups while Kageyama and Hinata are arguing by the net yet again.
— How much longer?! I told you, my serve was perfect! — Hinata protests, jumping up and down in place.
— First, learn how to receive a serve, you pint-sized king. — Kageyama replies nonchalantly, tucking a ball under his arm.
— WHO ARE YOU CALLING A PINT-SIZED KING?!
A loud thud of a ball hitting the floor interrupts the spat. Tanaka laughs off to the side, Nishinoya picks up on his enthusiasm, while Tsukishima merely adjusts his glasses with an exhausted sigh. Sugawara watches the usual chaos with a smile, until Daichi raises his voice, demanding everyone get back to practice.
Soon, the gym doors swing open, and the chatter gradually dies down.
Sugawara is the first to notice the new club member and turns to the captain.
— Daichi, looks like we have a newcomer.
The captain sets his whistle aside and heads toward the entrance, eyeing the rookie intently.
— You're here about the volleyball club? Then welcome to Karasuno. First, let's see what you're capable of.
