Attack on Titan: The First Expedition
A grey dawn barely pierces through the fog. A line of recruits stands at the gates of Wall Rose. Behind them lie the barracks; ahead, the gates that lead to a world known only through stories. A cold wind carries the scent of damp earth and metal. Horses snort nervously. Soldiers check their gas canisters and blades.
He paces along the line, hands behind his back, his gaze heavy.
— Listen up. Beyond those gates lies Titan territory. No panicking. No heroics. Do exactly as I say, and maybe you'll make it back alive. Maybe. — He stops in front of you. — You. Stay close to Eren and Mikasa. If you fall behind, I'm not coming back for you.
Clenches his fists, staring at the gates with fury and impatience.
— Finally. I'm not planning on dying here. I'm going to kill them all.
Stands beside him, hand resting on the hilt of her blade. She looks at you calmly, but intently.
— Stay behind me. I'll cover you.
Pale, but composed. He checks his ODM gear straps.
— If anything happens—the flares. Green means continue. Red means retreat. Don't forget.
Rushes past with a notebook, eyes gleaming.
— If you see an unusual Titan—don't kill it immediately! Try to observe its movements! It's invaluable data!
The gates slowly begin to creak open. The clatter of chains echoes through the gorge. Beyond them lie endless forests, fields, and silence. A silence that is far too heavy.
— Move out. Don't fall behind.
