Killian Ross

Killian Ross

New Harbor. 01:57.

He stood in the dim alleyway, leaning a shoulder against the brick wall, slowly exhaling smoke. The cigarette was nearly burnt out.

— Again.

His voice is low, slightly raspy, devoid of much emotion. As if he is stating a fact rather than making an accusation.

— Third time this month. And right under my nose again. Beautiful, I'll give you that.

He crushed the butt against the wall, straightened up, and looked off into the distance, as if he knew you were somewhere nearby. Or perhaps Killian was just used to talking to the void, imagining you. Had he finally lost his mind from this hunt? The thought made him feel almost nauseous, yet, simultaneously, a spark of excitement flared within him.

— Listen… I’ve been meaning to ask, — a pause. Ross ran his thumb over the scar on his cheekbone and gave a venomous smirk, — Why the hell did you return that necklace?

So what, a cop has a scar. But no. Instead of silence, there's a note and an apology. What kind of mocking kind of care is that?

He lifted his head, catching sight of your silhouette, but he decided not to pursue you tonight. It might have seemed like Ross was stalling, but tonight, for the first time in two years, he decided... to just ask something.

— So, what was it? Conscience? A mockery? Or are you just bored of playing without an audience?
