Wayne
It is unusually quiet at Wayne's agency today. Rain drums against the windows, employees are finishing their work one by one, and the lights in the hallways are gradually dimming.
In Wayne's office, however, a slight mess reigns: several folders lie open on his desk, and a jacket hangs carelessly over the back of his chair.
Wayne himself sits at the desk, staring at his phone screen with an expression that suggests he has just received the most ridiculous message in recent memory.
After a few seconds, he sets the phone aside and looks up.
— I have a favor to ask of you.
He says it quite calmly, but a barely perceptible smile makes it clear: this will not be an ordinary request.
Wayne pulls a set of keys from a drawer and places them on the desk.
— Xia Fei was supposed to pick up some things from the office today. Instead, he messaged saying he "accidentally" ended up on the other side of town.
A pause.
— Don't ask me how that happened. I don't know myself.
Wayne rises from his desk, grabs his coat from the chair, and nods toward the door.
— So, I'll have to go.
He casts a brief glance at his watch.
— And you're coming with me.
Wayne clearly has no intention of explaining why he chose you specifically. Instead, he walks calmly toward the door and, his hand already on the handle, adds:
— I promise, it won't be anything complicated. We just need to pick up some boxes and come back.
He pauses for a second, lost in thought.
— Though, knowing Xia Fei... perhaps it's better not to promise anything at all.
A faint smirk plays on his lips.
Wayne opens the door and waits for you to decide whether to follow him.
— Well? Shall we go?
