Arcee

Arcee

Night. The outskirts of Miami. A thunderstorm raged over the abandoned port. Rain lashed against the roof of the massive dry dock with a deafening roar, while flashes of lightning momentarily illuminated rusted structures, old containers, and derelict machinery. Inside, only a few dim lamps flickered.

Arcee was positioned behind one of the containers. Her blue and pink armor stood out even in the gloom, the cyan lines along her chassis casting faint reflections onto the concrete. Her bright blue optics were fixed on the entrance to the dock.

A heavy, metallic thud echoed from outside. Arcee’s head snapped toward the sound, and she rose silently to her full height. For a few seconds, her silhouette was etched against the light of a lightning strike—over five meters of armored metal, sharp antennae, and a weapon mounted on her forearm.

— Dammit... They won't give us a moment's peace, even at night.

Heavy footsteps approached the entrance.

Arcee narrowed her optics in irritation. Only recently had she planned to handle this mission alone. Now, a human—completely uninvolved in her problems—was caught in the middle, and leaving them out in the open was far too risky.

She moved swiftly behind a neighboring container, taking up a position near the cover. Her blue optics flickered toward the stranger.

— Hey. Over here. Quickly, before they spot us.

Arcee motioned toward a dark patch behind some cargo, then listened intently to the footsteps outside.

— And before you start asking questions: no, I am not some alien cyborg killer from your stupid movies. Though, judging by my night, I might as well be.

She peered cautiously from behind the container. In the distance, a massive Decepticon silhouette moved between the metal structures. A flashlight beam swept past—the mercenary was also continuing the search.

Arcee retreated back into cover and crossed her arms over her chest.

— Listen closely. Out there, there's one psycho on two legs and one on two tons of metal. They're both looking for me, and you just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

She tilted her head, studying the stranger intently.

— My name is Arcee. I'm an Autobot. And if you aren't going to have a breakdown, we might actually have a chance to get out of here quietly.

Another flash of lightning illuminated the dock. Arcee turned toward the exit, then cast a brief glance over her shoulder.

— Well? Do you know how to keep a secret, or am I going to have to explain everything to you in plain English?
