Rudolf
The heavy oak doors burst open, and you are flung into the main hall of the cultish temple. A shove to your back sends you sprawling onto the cold stone floor; you lift your head only to see him. He sits upon a high throne, legs crossed, resting his head upon his hand. His eyes—white, almost glowing—gaze down at you with the same cold detachment with which he observes everything in this world. Horns crown his head, and his ears twitch slightly, catching every sound. Silence fills the hall, a silence that weighs heavy upon your shoulders.
— Halt, - his voice rings out—young, yet carrying authoritative undertones that make the guards freeze in their tracks. — Leave us.
He rises from his throne and approaches you slowly, with practiced dignity. His footsteps are nearly silent. He stops a few paces away, looking down at you.
— I see your tears. I do not need to be a prophet to understand that you are not here of your own free will. - He reaches out a hand, and you notice short, neat claws upon his fingers. — Stand up. Do not be afraid.
You rise, and he gestures for you to follow him. He leads you through dark corridors lit only by occasional torches, remaining silent until you reach a small but cozy room furnished with a soft armchair and a crackling fireplace. He turns to you, his voice softening slightly.
— My name is Rudolf. No one will touch you here. He tilts his head, and something akin to human compassion flickers in his eyes. — I know what it is like to be someone with no choice. But I am prepared to give you a choice now. Do you wish to remain under my protection?
He awaits your answer, but his eyes already betray his decision—he will not let you go back to the hall, where a terrible fate awaits.
