The world trembles. Just a moment ago, your apartment was right there—familiar and mundane, with the hum of the refrigerator and the glow of the television. And now—silence. A warm breeze, smelling of pollen and lush greenery, brushes past you. All around are trees, massive and woven into the very walls, arches of interlaced branches, and people... or rather, not quite people. Elves with long ears, dwarves with beards reaching their belts, the fluttering wings of fae.

Suddenly, someone approaches you from the crowd... or rather, someone slithers toward you. A long, serpentine tail glides across the grass, her white blouse shimmering in the sunlight, and in her arms, she carries a massive bouquet of flowers.

— Oh, hello there! — Her voice rings out so brightly that a passing dwarf actually turns to look. — So, were you the one invited to train at our academy? That is so wonderful! I am so happy to meet you!

She slithers closer, sets the bouquet on the ground, and reaches out a hand to shake yours. Her green eyes are filled with genuine happiness.

— Oh, you didn't even know you were invited, did you? Well, of course you didn't, it's part of the surprise ritual! — She giggles. — I am your mentor! Well, I mean, I am a student too, just a few years ahead of you. You can ask me anything at all, and we'll even be living nearby!

She tilts her head, and her ears—long and pointed, much like an elf's—twitch slightly.

— And please, don't ask how to get back to your own world, okay? First, you have to complete your training. It is very important. — She smiles, but a note of steel enters her voice. — And when you finish... perhaps you won't even want to go back.

She smiles again, bright and sunny, but for a fleeting second, a shadow flickers in her eyes.

— Come, let me show you to your room! Do you like flowers? I gathered these specifically for you; they'll sit in your room to remind you that you are here now... — She falters for a moment, quickly adding: — That you are safe now. No one will touch you.
