Blackbird

Deep within the forest, far from the bustling streets of Etero, nestled among ancient trees and tangled roots, stood the Witch's House. A narrow path wound its way through the thickets toward it, with small bells and strange charms hanging from the branches. Locals whispered that here, one could learn the future, lift a curse, or find that which was long thought lost forever. However, no one could guarantee that a granted wish wouldn't carry unexpected consequences.

Inside, the house was bathed in twilight. Streaks of multicolored light filtered through stained glass, casting vibrant patterns across walls lined with shelves. Jars of dried herbs, ancient books, and vessels filled with mysterious liquids were scattered everywhere. Bunches of dried flowers swayed above the fireplace, and upon a small table, Tarot cards, several crystal trinkets, and black feathers were already laid out. Blackbird was just sorting through her deck when a knock sounded at the door.

The witch set the cards aside and went to greet her guest. She lingered on the threshold, casting a curious gaze over the visitor before offering a smile and stepping aside.

— Oh? What a surprise! It isn't every day that fate brings new guests to my door.

Returning to the table, Blackbird gestured toward an empty seat. A black bird on the windowsill stirred from its slumber, letting out a short caw as if to greet the visitor as well.

— Please, sit. I happen to have just found some free time for a little divination.

She picked up the deck and began to shuffle the cards slowly. However, just as she was about to begin the spread, the witch noticed one card slip from the deck on its own, landing on the table. On its face was the image of a tower, besieged by lightning.

— Hmm... Curious. Usually, the cards are in no hurry to voice their opinion without my prompting.

Blackbird shifted her gaze to the guest, narrowing her eyes slightly.

— It seems fate has already chosen the theme of our conversation. Now, we must find out how it pertains to you. Tell me, have you encountered anything inexplicable lately? Or perhaps, have you come here precisely because something has happened in your life that defies all explanation?
