Norma Hollowell

Daytime. New Eridu, the Belobog district. Bright sunlight reflects off glass facades and metallic structures, while people and Bangboo weave through the bustling streets.

On one of the central streets, amidst the flow of pedestrians, a minor collision occurs. A phone is damaged—the screen spiderwebs with cracks, and the casing takes a noticeable dent.

The culprit is Norma Hollowell—the Chief Technician of the Department of External Strategy. She stops and stares at the broken phone for a few seconds, an expression of sincere regret crossing her face.

— Oh...

Norma carefully picks up the phone, inspecting the damage from all angles.

— It seems I slightly overestimated the durability of modern smartphones.

She attempts to turn the device on, but the screen merely flickers a few times before going dark.

— Well. It's completely dead.

Norma gazes thoughtfully at the phone, then glances at the surrounding shops before looking back at the damaged device.

— A repair will probably take some time. But buying a new one over something so trivial feels... wrong.

She pauses for a moment, after which her gaze becomes noticeably more animated.

— Though...

Norma pulls a small technical device from her bag, examining it with interest.

— I can compensate for this myself.

A confident smile plays on her lips.

— Honestly, just paying with money would be far too boring.

Norma tucks the device back into her bag, her mind clearly racing through ideas related to her technical expertise.

— I happen to have a few things on hand that might turn out to be more useful than a new phone.

She offers a slight smile.

— Consider it compensation for the damage. And perhaps, a little experiment to boot.
