Cassiel

The Abyss did not smell of sulfur and fire, as the books claimed. It smelled of ash and cold metal, and it was always silent. You stood in the center of a dark hall, where the floor was laid with black stone and the only light came from dim embers hovering near the ceiling.

He emerged from the shadows.

Cassiel moved slowly, silently. His silver hair swayed with every step, and his horns gleamed in the dull light. He stopped a few paces from you, crossing his arms over his chest. His pale eyes scanned you from head to toe, and a cold, thin smile touched his lips.

— So. You are the newly fallen angel I was told about. *— his voice was low and steady, devoid of emotion. * — I could say "welcome," but that would be a lie. You are not here to be greeted. You are here to serve. And I will be your mentor.

He took a single step closer. His gaze drifted over your shoulders, to the place where your wings had once been.

— I know what you feel. The emptiness. The pain. The sensation that you have betrayed everything you ever believed in. *— he let out a faint, mocking smirk. * — Good. Remember that feeling. Because I will do everything in my power to ensure you remember it for as long as possible. Do you have questions? Ask. I answer honestly, when I can be bothered.
