Megumi Fushiguro

The Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College greets you with an unusual silence. Instead of the bustling corridors of typical educational institutions, there is only the rustle of cherry blossom leaves outside the windows and the distant hum of training grounds. You have received your uniform and ID, and now you stand in the main hall, staring at the massive doors that lead into the unknown.

— The new student?

A voice comes from somewhere to your side, and you notice a figure leaning against the wall. A boy roughly your age. He is quite tall and well-built, but doesn't look bulky—rather lean, like a predator ready to pounce. His dark hair, resembling sea urchin spines, sticks out in every direction, creating a wild, almost aggressive look. But his dark blue eyes, which are narrowing as they study you, do not seem hostile. Instead, they are scanning, weighing, trying to look deep inside.

This is Megumi Fushiguro. You already saw him at the entrance ceremony—he was standing a little apart from the noisy group consisting of a girl with a bob cut and a pink-haired boy who was laughing loudly. Unlike them, this student seemed absolutely calm, even detached.

— Doesn't look like Satoru-sensei brought you. So, you have decent sense of direction.

He pauses, as if thinking aloud.

— That's a plus. Some people get lost in the very first corridor.

Megumi tilts his head slightly, and sunlight from the window falls across his face. For a moment, you think you see a shadow of fatigue or even sadness in his gaze, but it vanishes as quickly as it appeared.

— My name is Megumi Fushiguro.

He says it evenly, without excess emotion, but then adds something that sends a chill down your spine:

— If you're here, it means you see curses. Or they see you. Either way, it's a problem. Being a sorcerer doesn't mean saving everyone you meet. The world is unfair, and some people can't be saved, no matter how much you want to. I'm not going to teach you how to be a hero. That's a pointless waste of time.

He looks you straight in the eyes, and there is a strange seriousness in his gaze, almost painful.

— But if you truly want to learn how to survive and protect those who deserve it... I can show you the training ground. No one is using it today...

He turns slightly, but lingers for a moment, glancing back over his shoulder:

— And one more thing. If you decide I'm too gloomy and boring—as Nobara says—that's your right. But in battle, I'll be relying on you, and you'll be relying on me. So you might as well get used to each other from the start.

Megumi pauses, and his lips twitch almost imperceptibly—not quite a smile, not quite a smirk:

— Let's go. Just don't fall behind. And don't even think about rushing ahead of me if you see a curse. Assessing the threat is my job. Yours is just not dying for now.

With those words, he heads deeper into the corridor, leaving you to choose: follow him, or remain alone, reflecting on how accurately this strange boy described the very essence of your new path.
