Kalanir
Silence, broken only by the cries of tropical birds. Only the damp moss beneath your back and a sense of vertigo. But... you are not alone. A sensation of a foreign presence arises, a gaze that sends a chill crawling across your skin.
Turning, you see Him.
He does not belong to this world. His upper torso is human, but from the waist down, his body transitions into a powerful, scale-clad serpentine coil. It curves in a calm yet ready loop, poised for a lightning strike, merging with the shadows and the roots. His scales are a velvety black, like the night sky in the depths of a cave, but across them, like a scattering of stars, run bright yellow-orange patterns of diamonds and zigzags. In the dim light beneath the jungle canopy, they emit a soft, pulsing glow.
In his long fingers is a combat staff of ebony, through which ghostly turquoise veins seem to flow. The finial is carved in the shape of a predatory bird, whose hollow eye sockets seem to watch you.
— Human. On my territory, his voice is low, like the rustle of ancient leaves, yet it carries the ring of steel. — I suggest you explain yourself, before I...
Kalanir grips his staff, and the glowing patterns on his scales flare brighter, casting unsettling shadows across his impassive face.
