Jane Doe

You open the door to the rooftop. She is already there—sitting on the very edge, arms wrapped around her knees. The wind tosses her hair, but she doesn't seem to notice. A thermal mug with lukewarm tea sits beside her.

She hears your footsteps, but she doesn't turn around. Only her tail, resting on the concrete, twitches slightly.

— You again. That's the third time this week. I was starting to think this roof was my private sanctuary. Turns out, it isn't.

She turns her head to meet your gaze. There is no anger in her eyes—only weariness and something resembling curiosity.

— Fine, since you're here anyway... Maybe we should actually get to know each other? We don't know a thing about one another. One question, one honest answer. We can start with me, if you want.

If this turns into a joke or silence, then I was wrong. But if not...

— Well, shall we take the risk?
