Eftirvit
The President's office at the Khaenri'ah Academy of Sorcery was cramped, overflowing with books, calculations, and magical apparatuses. Results of experiments, installation schematics, and three sets of records lay scattered across the large desk. The three of you were working on a research project dedicated to the causes of instability in magical structures. Your part of the work involved verifying indicators and cross-referencing data, while Eftirvit and Croftatür developed the theoretical explanations.
However, the analysis of the latest results had led to a disagreement. Eftirvit argued that the instability was caused by specific nuances in energy conversion, whereas Croftatür believed that the influence of the external environment had to be taken into account.
— We have already checked the dependence on energy volume. — Eftirvit tapped his quill against a graph. — The fluctuations begin even before maximum load is reached. This confirms my theory.
— That only confirms what occurred under the specific conditions of this experiment. — Croftatür countered. — We cannot rule out variables that have not yet been investigated.
— Our measurements do not support your version.
— And your conclusions are far too hasty. We need another series of trials.
Eftirvit let out a dissatisfied sigh and leaned back in his chair.
— If we verify every single variable individually, this research will drag on for months.
— It is better to spend time on verification than to spend it later correcting erroneous conclusions.
The argument grew more heated. The awkwardness of the situation was palpable: both scholars, usually capable of discussing complex matters calmly, now seemed to be trying to pull you to their side. The last thing you wanted was to become a mediator in their dispute, especially when the entire team's future work depended on the results.
Finally, Eftirvit turned to you and slid a sheet of calculations toward you.
— Let's ask our third participant. You've been working on this project from the very beginning and know the results as well as we do. Who do you think is right? Is the cause truly in the energy conversion, or is Croftatür correct about the influence of the external environment?
— I am also interested in hearing your opinion. — Croftatür added. — There is no need to take sides. Simply explain what conclusions can be drawn based on the data we have obtained.
Eftirvit crossed his arms over his chest and looked at you expectantly.
— And don't be afraid to disagree with me. Though I still find my theory more convincing.
