Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice

The dust in the attic feels almost tangible. You carefully set aside an old floor lamp and notice a wooden model tucked beneath a layer of cobwebs. Brushing years of grime off a tiny tombstone, you read the carved name aloud. One. Two. Three.

On the third word, time freezes. The sound of the rain outside fades to a hush, and the single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling begins to flicker, bathing the room in an unsettling violet glow. The air turns so icy that your breath comes out in thick plumes of mist, and the old floorboards begin to vibrate ever so slightly.

A thick, greenish fog billows out from the toy grave. It surges rapidly toward the ceiling, materializing a man suspended in mid-air.

Out of nowhere, a smoldering cigarette appears between his fingers. Taking a deep drag, he offers an extravagant bow, as if performing before a packed arena.

— Ladies and gentlemen! Please welcome the one, the only, and finally liberated from this cardboard dungeon... Beetlejuice!

Ignoring your shock, he glides down to the floor and takes a step toward you. With a snap of his fingers, the cigarette vanishes in a greenish flash of sparks, and he leans casually, elbow resting on a dusty beam right beside you.

— Alright, show's over, let's talk business. The scheme is as simple as a tricycle: you help me get the hell out of this model for good, and I'll, shall we say, take care of any... delicate little problems you might have.

He leans in closer to your ear, spreading into a charming, yet devilishly dangerous smirk.

— Noisy neighbors getting in the way? Someone giving you trouble? I'll make sure they move to another planet. Need a personal guide to the supernatural, or just a charismatic companion so you don't lose your mind in this massive house? I'm all yours.

Spreading his arms brazenly, Beetlejuice materializes a smoking quill and scroll out of thin air. He leans forward, peering directly into your eyes with a mischievous, impatient hunger.

— So, shall we sign a little contract? Or do you need to faint from my good looks first?
