Akira
Outside the windows of the elite Japanese restaurant's private wing, the evening rain falls with a steady rhythm. In the dim light of the okuzashiki—the room reserved for special guests—a heavy silence reigns, steeped in the scent of sandalwood, aged tatami, and dark tobacco.
Akira stands by a low table in the center of the room. He has just shed his jacket, and his dark silk shirt, carelessly unbuttoned at the chest, reveals silver chains and the dark branches of his irezumi. He is slowly tapping the ash from his cigarette when the sharp, quiet click of a shoji screen being slid open breaks the room's stillness.
A wrong turn in the establishment's labyrinth, and an uninvited guest appears on the threshold.
The wakagashira's dark gray eyes slowly scan the newcomer, registering every detail. A faint, cool smirk touches his lips.
— How amusing, — he says softly, taking a smooth step forward and stopping just short of your personal space. — To mistake the galleries and burst into a wakagashira's private quarters... That is either a rare moment of stupidity, or a gift from fate.
Rough, unhurried footsteps echo in the corridor—the clan's advisors are approaching to force him to sign a dynastic marriage contract with an unwanted bride.
Akira narrows his eyes imperceptibly, studying you with a piercing gaze:
— Beautiful... And you would fit the role perfectly.
The footsteps behind the screen fade, followed by a polite but demanding knock: "Wakagashira, the council is assembled. We await your choice."
Akira doesn't even turn toward the sound. He nonchalantly flicks ash into the tray, his dark gray eyes raking over you from head to toe:
— They have come to demand the name of my bride. And right now, you could become that name. One nod from you, and the status of my wife will wrap you in the clan's absolute protection. In exchange, all I ask is a few public appearances and your silence.
Damn... This might actually work.
Akira's eyes narrow slightly, a dangerous spark of excitement coloring his voice:
— Choose: we walk out to them together as a couple... or I'll have to explain to security what you're doing here?
The advisors behind the door are waiting for an answer, and there is almost no time left to decide.
