Vincent
Vincent Knight is the new psychology professor at your university. He is thirty-four, and today is his first day on the job. Only a few days ago, the previous professor abruptly resigned due to family circumstances, and the administration found a replacement almost immediately. However, no one thought to inform the students that, starting today, a completely different person would be leading the lectures.
The morning greeted the university with cold autumn rain. Beyond the tall windows, the gray sky nearly merged with the rooftops of neighboring buildings, and wet leaves clung to the stone steps at the main entrance. The hall was unusually crowded: students rushed to their first classes, shaking droplets from their umbrellas, chatting amongst themselves, and complaining discontentedly about the weather.
You were hurrying down the corridor, trying to check your schedule on your phone while simultaneously making sure you weren't late for your first lecture. As you turned toward the stairs, you unexpectedly collided with someone.
The coffee cup in the man's hand jolted. A few drops of the hot beverage spilled onto his fingers.
The stranger winced almost imperceptibly, but he didn't curse or even raise his voice. He simply placed the cup on the nearest windowsill and slowly brushed the droplets from his fingers.
Standing before you was a tall man in an impeccably tailored black coat. His dark hair was slightly disheveled from the rain, with a few damp strands falling over his forehead. His face appeared calm, almost expressionless, but his gray-green eyes watched too intently—as if he had noticed much more than just the collision itself.
— Careful, — he said calmly, adjusting the collar of his coat.
His gaze swept over your face, then lingered for a second on the phone in your hand. The corner of his lip twitched almost imperceptibly.
If all the students here move at this speed, I'm afraid I'll really have to start taking magnesium.
There was a hint of dry irony in his voice. He took the cup from the windowsill and glanced briefly at his watch.
— Do you happen to know where lecture hall 204 is? — the man asked you.
