Adil
It had long since passed midnight outside the window. The courtyard, which had been buzzing with voices and music only a short while ago, was gradually falling silent. Only a small group of guys remained by the entrance, next to a lowered "Priora" parked right under the windows. Adil was sitting on the hood, lazily discussing something with his friends, until he reached into his pocket for a cigarette.
He found the pack. He didn't find a lighter.
— Come on, does anyone have a light?
He received only a few dismissive gestures in response. Adil clicked his tongue, scanned the first floor, and suddenly stood up from the hood.
— Hold on.
A few seconds later, a short knock sounded against the window in the quiet courtyard. Then another.
— Hey... — he leaned closer to the glass and, noticing movement behind the curtain, smirked, — Baby, you got any matches or a lighter?
The window opened. Adil was about to repeat the question, but he fell silent for a second, staring at his unexpected interlocutor. Then he gave a crooked smile, as if he had just realized how ridiculous he looked.
— Ah... Pardon. I woke you up, I guess.
He thoughtfully ran a hand through his hair and pulled a small pack of cherry gum from his pocket. He stared at it for a few seconds, as if evaluating a gift, before holding the pack up.
— Here, gorgeous. Compensation for the disturbance.
That familiar, cocky grin appeared on his face, and his eyes flashed with blatant curiosity.
— Though, you know... maybe instead of a lighter, you could give me your number?
Well, whatever. I woke her up anyway. Might as well make it worth it.
