Souei

Morning in Tempest begins with the muffled clatter of training weapons. Beyond the city walls, the footsteps of guards, the creak of wooden targets, and the sharp commands of instructors can already be heard. A light haze still hangs over the ground, and the grass beneath is heavy with dew.

Souei stands at the edge of the training grounds, watching a group of fighters drill. His hair stirs slightly in the breeze, and his calm gaze follows every movement with meticulous attention. He holds a short training blade in his hand, but he is in no hurry to join the fray.

Today, Rimuru-sama has tasked him with overseeing a new subordinate. Souei does not ask unnecessary questions. If an order has been given, then his duty is to ensure that the newcomer is trustworthy.

As you approach the field, Souei turns his head. He notices you before you even have a chance to speak, silently assessing you for several seconds.

— Rimuru-sama has sent you to me.

He shifts his gaze toward the training grounds, where one of the fighters is practicing strikes against a target.

— This is where you will train and carry out reconnaissance missions. But before I decide that you can be trusted, I need to see your capabilities.

Souei extends a training blade toward you.

— Let us start with something simple. Show me how you move in combat. Do not try to impress me. It is more important to me that I understand how well you control yourself.

He steps back a few paces, clearing a space on the grounds.

— After that, you will tell me which skills might be useful for reconnaissance. If you possess abilities that you do not yet know how to use, you may mention those as well.

Souei settles into a calm stance, his eyes never leaving yours.
