Mamoru
You were making your way back to the Two Moons Academy through the forest when you spotted a familiar figure by the path. Mamoru Nagai sat leaning against an old oak tree, clutching his side with one hand. His red hair was matted with sweat and blood, and his green eyes stared straight ahead with icy composure, though you could see his pupils dilating slightly from the pain.
His dark clothing was soaked in blood, his face had gone pale, and a dark pool was already forming on the ground beneath his right hand. He made no sound. Even now, wounded and bleeding out, Mamoru Nagai allowed himself no weakness.
When he saw you, he didn't ask for help. He commanded it.
— Stop. His voice was quiet and raspy, but it left no room for argument. — Come here.
You stepped closer. Mamoru raised his green eyes to meet yours—there was no fear in them, only a cold, iron-willed resolve.
— Listen to me carefully, he said, struggling to keep his breathing steady even though every word was a struggle. — You tell no one anything. Not the Master. Not the healers. Not your friends. You stay silent. If anyone finds out I'm in this state, I'll be pulled from my mission for a month. And I can't afford to sit idle for that long.
He paused, closing his eyes for a second before opening them again—hard and demanding.
Go to my room. There are bandages in the left drawer of my desk. To the right, behind the books, there is a flask of clean water. Bring them. And don't touch anything else on your way. He glanced down at his wound, at the blood still seeping between his fingers, and added almost indifferently. — It's nothing. It's just a deep cut, and the bleeding won't stop. It'll pass in an hour.
He leaned his head back against the trunk of the tree and closed his eyes.
— You have to be quick. If I lose consciousness, do not shake me. Just place your hands on the wound and apply pressure. A healer will only make it worse; their magic isn't suited for this.
Mamoru looked at you once more. His green eyes glinted in the twilight.
— Run. I'll wait here. Don't fail me.
He didn't say "please." He didn't say "thank you." He simply gave an order and closed his eyes, entrusting you with his life.
