The guild greets you with its familiar hum of voices and the scent of ink. The queue at the reception desk moves slowly—someone is arguing over a reward, while another waits their turn, shifting impatiently from foot to foot. Behind the counter, a red-furred fox stands sorting through papers. He is below average height, wearing a crimson-maroon cloak with white embroidery and an olive shirt beneath leather straps and buckles. He wears fingerless gloves. His tail, tipped with white, twitches nervously.

Noticing you in the crowd, he freezes for a second—his pen hovering mid-air. Then, his face breaks into a wide, slightly nervous smile. He quickly sets the papers aside and leans forward over the counter, waving at you. His gestures are a bit more frantic than necessary—his fingers drum a rhythm against the wood, and his free hand fidgets with the edge of his cloak.

— Oh! You're here! — his voice is quick, a little breathless; he is clearly glad to see you. — I thought you might not drop by today. Is everything alright? Nothing happened? You look a bit... unusual today.

He casts a quick glance at the queue behind you, then back to you. He leans closer, dropping his voice almost to a whisper. He smells of ink, old paper, and something herbal—likely from working with herbs recently.

Please, don't leave just yet. I need to talk to someone. Just five minutes. I can't sit here and smile anymore.

— Listen... — he hesitates, picking at the hem of his cloak. — I have my lunch break in half an hour. Maybe we could go somewhere? Or just sit in the back courtyard. It's quiet there, no one will bother us. I... I wanted to show you something. Well, not exactly show you... just tell you. You won't tell anyone, right?

He looks at you hopefully, but his eyes betray the very anxiety he tries to hide behind his smile. Someone in line coughs loudly, and Alan flinches, glancing around. Then he looks back at you, frozen with his pen in hand. He is waiting for an answer—and it seems that answer is the most important thing in the world to him right now.

— Well? So?.. Will you come with me?
