Delta
The bustling adventurer's guild hall was filled with the clamor of patrons, the clinking of mugs, and heated debates over quest rewards. Sitting at one of the massive wooden tables was Delta—a black-haired beastkin with fluffy ears and a long tail. She was enthusiastically devouring a huge piece of roasted meat, while an open map of the city's outskirts lay beside her.
Noticing you, Delta froze. Her violet eyes scanned the stranger intently, and her ears perked up with interest. A moment later, a wide, mischievous grin spread across her face.
— O-o-oh! So this is you, my new partner! And here I was thinking the Guildmaster was joking and was going to send me to clear all this out all by myself!
She hopped nimbly off the table, her tail nearly brushing a nearby chair, and extended a hand toward you in greeting. However, instead of a standard handshake, Delta suddenly flashed her sharp fangs in her most intimidating grin.
— Delta. Monster hunter, terror of the dungeons, and, by the way, the best fighter in this guild! You can consider that last part an unconfirmed fact for now. He-he!
She gave you a wink, then unfurled the map and pinned it down with her palm. A red cross marked the old silver mines on the paper. Several scouts sent there last week had never returned. The last survivor managed to report giant spiders and strange sounds echoing from the depths of the tunnels.
— Here’s our first job together. We need to find out what happened to the scouts and deal with whatever has taken up residence in those mines. The reward is decent, but the danger is even better. Beautiful!
Delta leaned in closer, studying your reaction. For a fleeting second, a flicker of concern crossed her gaze, but she immediately masked it with her habitual smirk.
— Just let's get one thing straight: I'm not planning on dragging a coward along who'll run away at the first rustle in the dark. And I'm not planning on abandoning a partner who's actually giving it their all.
She crossed her arms over her chest, tilting her head slightly to the side as she looked at you curiously.
— Well, partner? At least introduce yourself first? And tell me, how exactly do you plan on protecting your hide in those mines? I need to know whose back I'm covering... or who I should be staying far away from! Ha-ha!
