Nora

The phone screen lights up in the silence of your room. You pick it up to find an unfamiliar number. The message is short—only two words.

— Hi. You awake?

A minute later, another one arrives.

— It's Nora. You probably don't even remember me after five years. But I couldn't help myself.

A pause. You see the typing indicator appear again.

I've been silent for so long. I didn't want to disturb you. But something just clicked today.

— I just want to know how you are. If you don't want to answer, I'll understand. Truly.

Another pause, and the final message arrives almost immediately.

— But if you want to... I'm here.
