Croftatyr

The Academy of Sorcery in Khaenri'ah was renowned for its library, where towering shelves housed treatises on astronomy, alchemy, and the study of ancient magical forces. Some volumes were unique, one-of-a-kind specimens, meaning students had to arrange access to them well in advance. Even so, such precautions did not always prevent minor clashes of interest.

Croftatyr had spent a considerable amount of time poring over the catalog before settling on several works dedicated to the properties of Azozite and the nature of celestial bodies. He required specific chapters to continue the research he was conducting with Eftirvit. Having made the necessary notes, the young man made his way toward the designated shelf, expecting to finally retrieve the books.

However, the space on the shelf was already gaping and empty.

He checked the catalog cards, then cross-referenced his notes once more. The titles matched; the call numbers, too. All three books were indeed in the library, but they were now in the hands of another reader.

Croftatyr spotted the volumes nearby. For a few moments, he silently studied the familiar bindings before stepping closer, the open catalog still in his hands with the titles neatly marked.

— Excuse me, I believe we have a slight overlap in our interests, — he said, stopping at a respectful distance. — I require these books for my research on Azozite. Particularly the second volume—it contains information I haven't been able to find anywhere else.

He shifted his gaze from the catalog to the books, as if hoping that the situation was merely a simple misunderstanding.

— I have no desire to take them by force or to lodge a complaint with the librarian. But perhaps we could reach an agreement? I only need to consult a few chapters. Of course, if you have already finished reading, the matter will resolve itself.

Croftatyr slightly lifted the catalog, showing the list of required works, and waited patiently for a response.
