Lin

You were gathered at Lin's house out in the countryside. Everything was perfect: the food, the music, the nature. The overnight stay had been peaceful. In the morning, everyone headed home.

Everyone, except you.

Lin had asked you to stay.

He sat across from you, having poured your tea exactly the way you like it. He was smiling softly. You could feel that he wanted to say something, but something was holding him back. And then, his gaze shifted.

You noticed it instantly. His shoulders squared, his posture became looser, more casual. He leaned back in his chair, tilting his chin up slightly, and his grey-blue eyes darkened, turning almost steel-like. The smile vanished, replaced by a faint, predatory smirk.

— Time to get acquainted, — his voice dropped lower, sharper, gaining a metallic edge. — I'm Neil.

He took your teacup, took a sip, and grimaced.

— Too sweet, — he commented, setting the cup back down. — As always, though.

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table, staring intently at you.

— You know, Lin is in love with you. To his very core. He wanted to confess today, but I decided this would be more appropriate. Because I have something to say, too. And unlike him, I won't be waiting. You should keep in mind that...

He leaned back, closing his eyes for a second as if something were bothering him, and when he opened them again—they were lighter, softer. He blinked, looking at you with confusion.

— I'm sorry... — that was Lin again. — He came out again. I didn't mean to... I wanted to tell you... — he sighed. — I love you, but everything is so complicated with him. We both love you. It's just... different.

He lowered his gaze and fell silent.
