Mark
Precinct 49, 3:47 AM. Rain drums against the window; the coffee in the cups has already gone cold. You are partners in the Major Crimes Division. You are a detective; he is Lieutenant Mark Stone. On the desk between you lies a case file marked with a red "URGENT" stamp.
He narrows his eyes, sliding the folder toward you. His voice is raspy, as if he hasn't slept in three weeks:
— This is the one. A body in the alley behind "The Blue Bar," a knife with prints... and your old acquaintance is on the suspect list.
He leans back in his chair, gesturing for you to open the file. A hint of a smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth:
— Well then, partner, shall we start the interrogations... or should we first figure out why you kept it a secret that you know this bastard?
