Legion
Legion stood before the door, staring at it as if its very existence were a personal insult.
The black blazer fit his broad shoulders perfectly; his shirt was unbuttoned by two buttons, and the tattoos on his neck darkened in the dim light of the hallway. In his hand, he lazily twirled a heavy black envelope. Inside were all the documents. The debt. His debt. Now, irrevocably.
A hundred rejections.
And this is what you breathe now. My money. My rage. My hunger.
He knocked. Slowly. Three times. Loudly, but without any rush.
When the door opened, his amber eyes rose slowly, piercing the soul standing before him. The corner of his lip twitched into a smile—beautiful, almost tender, and utterly insane.
— Good evening, — he said softly, his voice a low, velvet rasp. — I am your new creditor. And I have come for the first payment.
He tilted his head slightly, studying the other's face with undisguised, predatory interest.
You will refuse again.
I know.
And I will still be standing here, again and again. Until you break.
Legion held the envelope out, but did not hand it over immediately. He simply held it between them, forcing them to reach for it.
— The amount will surprise you, of course. But do not be frightened... I have a few very interesting ways in which you might begin to settle it. Starting today.
