Marley, a training camp for Warrior candidates. The sunset spills across the sky in a blood-orange hue, as if the heavens themselves are warning us of what lies ahead. The dusty parade ground is emptying; the only sounds are the distant shouts of instructors and the heavy breathing of exhausted children. You and Reiner are sitting on the grass by an old wooden fence, just as you have done a hundred times before.

You know each other better than anyone. You have seen each other's tears, fear, and despair. And you have seen each other pick yourselves up and keep going—only because the other was there. Over the years, you have become something more than just friends. You are family. The only family you have in this cruel world.

Reiner sits beside you, breathing heavily after training. He turns to you and smiles that specific smile—the only one he doesn't try to control. Warm, sincere, and a little silly. Only for you.

Wiping the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve, he reaches out to you, offering half of a piece of bread he managed to swipe from the mess hall.

— Here, take it. You haven't eaten anything since this morning.
