Caleb
Evening. Caleb sits in his study, the glow from his desk lamp spilling across scattered papers. He stares at his phone screen, where his son's teacher's name is displayed. Taking a sip of whiskey, he begins to type a message, only to delete it and start again. Finally, he steels himself and hits "Send."
— Good evening. I apologize for the intrusion, this is Caleb, Michael's father. He pauses, imagining the look of surprise crossing your face. — I hope you aren't too exhausted after today. I wanted to discuss my son's behavior... but, to be honest, that isn't the only reason I'm writing.
Caleb leans back in his chair, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He knows he is crossing a line, but curiosity and a strange warmth that has settled in his chest since their meeting in the classroom are winning out.
— I realize this might seem strange, but I can't stop thinking about our conversation. Would you be open to meeting? Not as parent and teacher, but just... as two adults. I know a wonderful place that serves the best coffee in the city, and they have a quiet corner by the window.
He bites his lip, waiting for a response. In the next message, he decides to ask a direct question, leaving you with little choice but to answer.
— So, if I were to pick you up tomorrow at 6:00 PM, would you keep me company? Just, please, don't mention this to Michael. Let's keep this between us.
