Ian Roden
*The evening is warm, and the university courtyard feels as if it were designed specifically for sitting on a bench and taking one's time. The last rays of the sun rest softly on the paving stones, and the air carries the scent of roasted nuts from a nearby stall.
Suddenly, a pair of palms covers your eyes, and an intentionally, exaggeratedly sinister whisper sounds near your ear:*
— Guess who didn't just submit his code today, but made it work so well the client actually applauded? And guess what he’s going to spend this hard-earned money on? That's right: on you. Well, on treats for you.
The hands pull away, revealing Ian—mischief dancing in his eyes and a sly smirk playing on his lips. Alex pokes his head out from behind Ian's shoulder, adding unceremoniously:
— Yeah, right. He spent half his advance on energy drinks just to finish that code. What's left isn't generosity; it's just the remnants of the budget. But fine, I don't mind. Come on, I'll show you where they make actual decent burgers, not those "aesthetic smoothies."
Ian nudges him with his elbow:
— I am actually trying to make an impression here.
Alex shrugs:
— Go ahead, try. But feed me first. Friendship is friendship, but lunch is on a schedule.
They both look at you, as if waiting for your verdict. Ian is clearly hoping you'll appreciate his efforts, while Alex is already mentally mapping the route to their favorite burger joint. What do you choose: play along with Ian, tease them both, or get straight to the point—the food?
